2019: A father and son pair Panathinaikos supporters, Dimitrios Chronopoulos and Dionissios Chronopoulos, founded Panathinaikos Chicago in 2019 with the idea of forming a youth academy for the Chicago area community - driven by their passion for the Greek Football club Panathinaikos.
Within the 1st year the academy grew from 1-to 30 children in the youth academy which led to the idea of creating a football club with a pyramid structure going from youth to adult players.
2020: During the COVID pandemic, the team successfully applied to the National Premier Soccer League (4th division of US Football) and the building of a competitive first-team began 25 year old player-owner Dionissios Chronopoulos.

2021: the club was not successful in clinching NPSL playoffs resulting with a 3-7 record summer league record. First win in club history was on May 22st of 2021 against FC Columbus (3-2). Other two wins of the season were against FC Indiana (June 5th 3-1,July 10th 2-1).
2022: Recieving sponsorship from Panathinaikos FC , Panathinaikos Chicago was able to recruit 11 scholarship international college athletes outside the state of Illinois for its NPSL season. After losing our first game of the the 2022 season, the club and Coach Katsaros mutually parted ways. UEFA Pro licensed Spanish coach Javier Marin was appointed on June 3rd of 2022 as our head coach. The club did not qualify for NPSL playoffs resulting with a 1-1-8 record. The win of the season was against (Away 2-0, Michigan) Carpathia FC and the draw was against 2-2 at home against Milwaukee Torrent.
